Suntory Ads by Akira Kurosawa & Francis Ford Coppola

Click here to watch. Akira Kurosawa and Francis Ford Coppola are two names you wouldn't normally associate with commercials, so Suntory must have spent quite a bit of money to get the two. I've read that these commercials were the inspiration for Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation.

If I am not totally mistaken, Kurosawa himself actually appeared in a number of whiskey ads already in the 1970s, as he was facing trouble finding financing for his films.
